Over 200 years ago, locals and travellers were served beer and snacks at the site of the present restaurant (“Gaststubn”). Around 1680 the estate was expanded by the family’s ancestors and the new family name of “Schoiner” came into being, which still exists today. The long history of this inn belies our motivation and mission to always prove ourselves as good hosts.

For our fine dining we use exquisite products from the local area and from carefully selected suppliers. Under the direction of Jacob Bichler, the son of the owner, the kitchen philosophy of the Schalchenhof is committed to three culinary principles:

  • Sophisticated - but not pretentious.
  • Clever - but not contrived.
  • Traditional yet modern.
